Globalization is putting traditional communities to the test. From Euroasia`s icy north to Australia`s desert ant the rain forest of Amazonia, many of these somewhat different citizens of the world are seeking – and insisting upon – their place in the global village. They are “The Survivors”. Far from romantic or touristic cliches, we gain insight into their work life and their ceremonies, their hopes and fears, and their individual strategies to face the challenges of the 21st century. This book will open our eyes for their Here and Now. Selected ethnic groups from all climate zones of the earth are highlighting in numerous beautifully illustrated portraits – from the Japanese Ainu to the South African Zulu.
